In September 2015, the United Nations Assembly formally adopted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), superseding the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), to be implemented by 2030.

However, sustainability is more than a debate about climate change; it is an insightful debate about inequality. It is the moral compass of an agenda that explores the connections between the simultaneous achievements of environmental quality and human and social equality so as to achieve a better quality of life for all, now and in the future, in sustainable ecosystems.

To reach this goal it is necessary to achieve quality of life and wellbeing for all; ensuring justice and equity in terms of acknowledgment, processes, procedures and outcomes and recognize the limits of our ecosystem and the need to act now.

All the 17 SDGs are interconnected and they acknowledge the relation between environmental quality and human equality; stopping poverty means improving gender equality, people’s health and education and reducing inequalities. Social justice and sustainability must go hand in hand to accomplish all SGDs.
