Title - Sustainable Development in Higher Education

Coordinators - Ana Sotomayor / Fernando Miguel Seabra / Jorge Rodrigues

The imperative of pursuing a Sustainable Development, providing an adequate reconciliation of the triple economic, environmental and social dimensions imposes different challenges to Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) located in different geographical locations, as well as in the various areas of activity with regard to teaching, research and services they provide to the community. Lecturing in these different contexts plays a leading role in this regard, by incorporating the conceptual framework of sustainability into teaching, research and community support.
The aim of this project is to understand how HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) and their lecturers are responding to this imperative.
Different contexts will be studied: Portugal, Spain and South American countries.
