CANDIDACY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

An international student is a student who does not have Portuguese nationality.

They are not covered by the international student status:

a) the nationals of a member state of the European Union;
(b) the relatives of Portuguese or nationals of a Member State of the European Union, irrespective of their nationality;
c) those who, not being nationals of a member state of the European Union and not being covered by the preceding paragraph, legally reside in Portugal for more than two years, uninterrupted, on January 1 of the year in which they wish to join the higher education, as well as the children who with them legally reside;
d) those who are beneficiaries, on January 1 of the year in which they want to join higher education, equal rights status and assigned duties under international treaty outored between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals;
and) those who require admission to higher education through the special access and admission schemes governed by the Decree-Law No. 393-A/99 of October 2, amended by Decree-Law No. 272/2009 of October 1.
f) foreign students who find themselves attending a Portuguese higher education institution under an international mobility program for the realization of part of a study cycle of a foreign higher education institution with whom the Portuguese institution has established exchange agreement with that objective.g) The residence time with residence permit for study does not release for the purposes of (c).
h) Students entering higher education under the international student status hold the quality of international student until the end of the study cycle in which they initially signed up or to have them transiting, even though, during the frequency of the study cycle, they will be granted equal rights status and duties under international treaty outored between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals.

Understand by relatives of Portuguese or nationals of a member state of the European Union:
(a) The spouse of a citizen of the European Union;
(b) The partner with whom a citizen of the European Union lives in de facto union, constituted under the law, or with whom the citizen of the European Union maintains a properly certified permanent relationship, by the competent entity of the member state where he resides;
c) The direct descendant under 21 years of age or who is in charge of a citizen of the European Union, as well as that of the spouse or the direct ascendant.

Emolument of candidature: 102.50 € *

Each application corresponds to a course. Should you want to apply for more than one course you will have to pay an emolument for each application.
You can make the payment of the application emolument through PayPal (directly on the online form of your application) or by Bank Transfer (in this case the application will only be considered after submitting a supporting document identified with the candidate's name to student@ipl.pt

Licensing Seriation

The ordering of the candidates to the 1. cycle of studies is done by descending order of the final classification, taking into consideration the criteria following:

a) The minimum ranking in the examinations carried out and the minimum ranking in the application note for access to each cycle of studies are those required for the national access contest fixed annually by the IPL;
b) The application note is calculated using the following classifications;
ii) Classification of the entrance exams.

The ordering of the applicants to the 2. cycle of studies is done by descending order of the final classification, taking into account the following criteria:
