Marie-Sarah and Mathilde, two undergraduate students, came together from France to ISCAL under the Erasmus+ programme. In France, they are attending the Quimper University Institute of Technology, from the University of Western Britain, and have been in Portugal since September 2019.

Marie-Sarah says she chose Portugal because she felt that here she had the opportunity to improve her English, “but also to learn Portuguese and discover the culture". Mathilde had already been in the country two years ago, in Porto, and she appreciated "the environment and the Portuguese people very much", which made her want to come here from Erasmus. Their choice by ISCAL is due to the very positive feedback they received from other students, who had attended the institution in the previous year.

“They told me that is was very nice school, with nice teachers and interesting classes. After almost one year here I totally agree with them.” Marie-Sarah Guivarch

“They told me that it is the place to be for an Erasmus!” Mathilde Aron-Luc-Poula

Students, like other Erasmus+ students, highlight the quality of teaching at ISCAL. Mathilde says that "the fact of being in class with people of different nationalities is very enriching, as well as to discover new methods of working with teachers very attentive to the students”. She also says that "the possibility to choose our lessons is a very good point because we are more focus in a subject which is interesting for us". On the other hand, Marie-Sarah admits she is quite satisfied to be in a "multicultural environment and receiving a top quality education", also describing the student-teacher relationship as "warm and professional" and “the very friendly mood between all students in Lisbon".

Marie-Sarah and Mathilde, besides enjoying studying at ISCAL, are delighted with the city of Lisbon. "It's a very welcoming and warm city," says Marie-Sarah. However, now in France, due to the current situation in the country and in the world, Mathilde confesses "I already miss Lisbon and I hope to go back very quickly!”

The Erasmus+ programme, according to both students, is an added value for those who have the opportunity to experience it, because it “permits a faster language learning and allows you to have a bigger open mind." (Marie-Sarah Guivarch). Furthermore, it is also "an opportunity to meet people from others nationalities and exchange with them." (Mathilde Aron-Luc-Poula)

“It's the best experience to meet new people, discover new cultures and discover a new way of studying.” Marie-Sarah

“The advantage of having the opportunity to experience the ERASMUS program, first of all, it is to learn a new language, English but also thanks to ISCAL Portuguese (a language that I never practiced and learned before). So, Obrigada ISCAL and Lisbon for this opportunity.” Mathilde Aron
